SCCU Sporting 10 Report

Southern Counties Cycling Union Sporting “10”, 17 March 2018.
Amazingly, the event was held yesterday despite snow on the coast at Brighton, 25 miles south and snow in south London suburbs, 15-20 miles north.  Although there were some flurries in the morning, traces of snow settled on grass verges but, after a few days of 10-12 degrees, the roads stayed just wet despite 0 degrees and a biting E wind. Snow resumed in full 3 hours after the event, covering lanes quickly.
Only 22 riders started out of 69 riders, with many recording personal worsts. Conditions were brutally cold, with some riders riding in thermal jackets. Only one seen in shorts.
